Detroit-Windsor Crossings
Windsor is linked to the United States by the Ambassador Bridge, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, a Canadian Pacific Railway tunnel, and the Detroit-Windsor Truck Ferry. The Ambassador Bridge is North America's #1 international border crossing in terms of goods volume: 27% of all trade between Canada and the United States crosses at the Ambassador Bridge. On April 9, 2010, the City of Windsor, along with local cabinet ministers Dwight Duncan and Sandra Pupatello of the Province of Ontario, announced that a final decision had been made in the plans to construct the Windsor-Essex Parkway, the new Highway 401 extension leading to a future crossing.
Roadways
As Windsor's development has sprawled out along the banks of the Detroit river and Lake St Clair, the city is wider than it is deep meaning that the majority of development stretches along the water instead of in-land.
Windsor has completed a municipal highway, E.C. Row Expressway, running from east-west through the city. Consisting of 15.7 kilometres (10 miles) of highway and nine interchanges, the expressway is the fastest way for commuters to travel across the city. There are eight north-south roads (and expressway interchanges) of Huron Church Road, Dominion Boulevard, Dougall Avenue, Howard Avenue, Walker Road, Central Ave, Jefferson Boulevard and Lauzon Parkway. Including three bike trails that cross E.C. Row Expressway, the total increases to 11 north-south arteries. Riverside Drive, Wyandotte Street, Tecumseh Road and the E.C. Row Expressway serve the over 20 km from the west end of Windsor eastward.
The city is connected to Essex and Leamington via Highway 3, and is well connected to the other municipalities and communities throughout Essex County via the county road network. Nearly 17,000 vehicles travel on Highway 3 on a daily basis. It is the main route to work for many residents of Leamington, Kingsville and Essex.
Bus Service
Transit Windsor, the city-owned bus company, handles local transportation throughout the City of Windsor and a small portion of the Town of Lasalle. Buses operate from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. on weekdays and from 8:00 a.m. to midnight on weekends and holidays. Schedule and route information are available at the Transit Windsor web site.
Windsor Airport
Windsor Airport handles 125,000 to 150,000 passengers per year, and provides daily commuter flights connecting through Toronto to major Canadian cities, the U.S. and Europe.
The Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (ranked 11th in the United States in terms of passenger traffic according to Airports Council International), is located roughly 20-30 minutes across the border in Romulus, Michigan. Detroit Metro is also a hub for Northwest Airlines. It is the airport of choice for many Windsor residents as it has regular flights to a larger variety of destinations than Windsor Airport.
Via Rail Canada
Via Rail Canada is an independent crown corporation offering intercity passenger rail services in Canada. It gives you speedy downtown-to-downtown travel to and from Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa, Niagara Falls, London, Kingston, Sarnia.
Greyhound Canada
Greyhound Canada is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in Canada, serving nearly 1,100 locations. It shares its newly constructed $8-million downtown depot with Transit Windsor. The new depot opened in 2007.

Robert Q Airbus has been providing ground transportation services to and from Pearson (Toronto) Airport and Detroit Metro Airport to various locations in Southern Ontario since 1977. Its convenient schedule serves all air travellers 365 days a year. Robert Q Airbus pick up point in Windsor is located at 1855 Huron Church, right in front of the Holiday Inn.
